Hi there everyone! I have gotten myself a semi-broken PS2 (DVD-drive doesnt work), that I figured I could use for some soldering pratice. I bought a Modbo 760 years ago, but never had the confidence to solder it inside the machine. I have been searching the web, but I cannot seem to find any diagrams for the chip. Can any of you guys in here help me? PS2 is a fat PAL SCPH 300004. Thank you !
You have to open up the console to find out exactly which board you have, because there's a few different boards it could be, then we can help you find the exact one. See: http://i.imgur.com/OQ2Uqsq.png Modbo 4.0 diagrams would be mostly the same, but might have a few different points. http://imgur.com/a/LudgV Also, I don't want to discourage you from trying, but I hope you have some soldering practice already before attempting a PS2 as there's many small points. Have you installed a chip in any other consoles?
This isn´t my first rodeo, I have done anything from consoles to handhelds for a couple of years on, off. But thanks! I am sure this isn´t anything for starters I wanted to try the PS2 because it is so difficult! And since the system is malfunctioning already, it doesn´t matter much if I brick it. Well I dissasembled the console, and here is some pictures of the insides. It says N4 and GH-010, does that mean I have a V4, or what should I be looking for? Would this be my diagram? And any advice on where to place the chip itself? Thanks!
Just a little update for those who cares I read horror stories on different forums that the V4 motherboard would be a pain with the modbo. Even though I had a little difficulties and had to redo a couple of wires a couple of times, the PS2 now boots my backup disc of Hitman Blood Money! I can also boot PS1 disc, however only PAL games will show in the correct aspect ratio. Not a clean install by any means ( I know ), but that is why I used it as practice to get better.
