Hi all, I have this ceramic white ps2 that doesnt seem to work. It will not output audio or video at all. I bought this console like this years ago on ebay, wanted it mainly for its ceramic white controller, but the console itself is in near-mint condition (as was the controller) it's the same console in my profile picture to the left. I want to use this ps2 now so I'm wondering whats going on with it. Its model SCPH-79001, I turn it on, there isnt even a flash or twitch on the screen through component or composite. I can hear the disc spinning up and I can turn it off as normal. No audio either. I have another just like it that works but that ones boxed and i'd rather keep it that way. All advice appreciated.

Sounds similar to what my chipped US fat PS2 has recently done on XRGB mini. Haven't tried anything like different cables, TV, or directly to the TV yet.

Good time to note that I bought this PS2 with this issue, and it was completely unopened/unmodified when I bought it, still had the warranty seal intact. Now I've opened it but still no modifications of any kind.

First thing: check the fuses on the board

If for any reason the CPU is prevented from starting, the graphics chip never get init and the system never starts to generate video signal (so the tv stays on blue screen mode).

Usual mode of failure for this symptom is RAM fault (EE RAM) or if it's modded the modchip is blown, the wires for the modchip are shorted somewhere or one of the wires of the modchip went loose and it's preventing the CPU from starting up due to that. Investigation required.

Reflowing won't let you know what is going on and you can even make the problem worse if you don't need to reflow and it doesn't work.

Reflow is not a magic solution which fixes all faults. :)

Seems the easiest thing to do is to check fuses then. If that doesnt work then quick reflow, or just a logicboard replacement. I had bought a silver one, same model number for parts but that one doesnt seem to read games, even with a proven working laser/deck assembly.
