Really excited having found Psychonauts for a cheap price second hand. When I get home I find that the DVD is silver on top with blue writing of the usual info plus: 'Promo only - not for resell' and no manual. Appears to be a full copy of the game but I was just curious to find out are these copies sent to reviewers and are they rare? Are they something that is collectable?
Worth a bit more than retail most of the time, especially for a cult appeal title like Psychonauts. If it's got a box and stuff then it's very likely to be identical to retail, at which point it's basically just a collector's thing. I'm assuming it runs on an unmodded PS2?
Yep, runs on my unmodded PS2 fine. The only difference is the lack of graphic on the disc. Just blue wiriting on silver background. Was kind of disappointed at first because I like disc art, but I can live with it if is more valuable. These second hand shops. They are getting too sloppy with the discs they accept. A few months ago they sold me Global Defence Force in a GDF Tactics box!
I disagree....on most.....virtually all the promo`s I have ever got have all been considerably cheaper than retail Oddities like REZ etc etc will be a bit more as these are always for the collector, but as a rule promo`s cheaper as not many people want them as they have no instructions......best part is.....when was the last time your read the instuctions  Just the other day Little Big Planet for £12.50 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110321437492&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=001 And a Sega SuperStars Tennis for £4.25, and an ever rarer promo as not even "promo only" strictly a Microsoft Green disk I Pre-production run http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?
