This is a quick question that can be resolved quickly. Is it possible to use an official Sony PS2 Remote Control (the one with an IR receiver for the controller port) on a PS1? I'm pretty sure it can, but I just wanted to be sure. All I need it to do is to control the CD player functions on the PS1.
Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. I recently got a PS2 remote and connected it to my PS1. It works, but the only problem is that the play, pause, skip, etc. buttons don't work. Only the buttons that correspond to controller buttons work. Is there a way around this, or am I pretty much stuck with it?
i guess the play pause skip etc. buttons call for specific bios functions, which the ps1 bios does not have.
Didn't the PS2 remote with the separate IR sensor come with a disk that needed to be installed to a memory card on the ps2? (or was that just a DVD driver update or something).. perhaps that is part of the cause.. ?
in the first 1million PS2s released in Japan the DVD-playing firmware was a) universal, playing all regions (an intentional slip on sony's part) and b) was not part of the bios but had to be installed on the memory card.
