not sure if this should go in here or off topic, applies to gaming so i choose General gaming after many xbox repairs, i finally did my first ps2 repair today, my fiances ps2 'acquired' the dreaded disk read error syndrome, first i tried just cleaning the lens - nogo on that, then i tried adjusting the rack height with the white knob, some success (hit and miss reading), finally adjusted the laser voltage, and SUCESS because of this, im buying a lot of ps2s from a local gamestore tomorrow, 3 for $10 with the same problem, who knows maybe ill get a few fixable ps2s out of the deal otherwise $10 down the drain...not really tho as i get parts out of the deal, ill let you know the status, if i get these working, and someone wants a ps2...ill be posting at least one in the bst for cheap soon (cheap as in lets say $15 plus shipping)
welcome to 2-3 years ago.... I used to buy DRE's off ebay and fix them up, then sell them on ebay bundled with a cheap game for easily twice what I put into getting them. I got lazy lately though....
You may to check the rails holding the lens block the grease tends to try out after long uses. A little bit of liquid grease like vaseline (seriously) and you're good to go. Sabre
thanks for the advice, honestly, her ps2 is the first one i ever touched (play or fix), i kinda have a thing against sony, no need to go into details
