Most of my pre-HDTV consoles are now connected to a CRT Television with an RGB SCART - to - Component adapter and most of them look great. The PS2, however, looks terrible. I realize the PS2 supports Component (YPbPr) natively, but my CRT only has a single component input and I already have one switch daisy-chain going on so I didn't want to insert another one for a single console, so I bought an RGB cable and connected it the same as the rest of them. The picture has never looked quite right on the PS2, however. I couldn't really find a good way to describe it until I stumbled across this post about a couple of members working on a 3DO RGB mod. The third picture in this post - the one labeled "incorrect line update" sums up the exact problem I'm seeing with my PS2. 3DO 240p output - VP536A encoder While I haven't been able to find a good answer (or much of a clue) as to why I might be having this problem, I did come across a couple of articles saying that it was best to use "sync on luma" cables for the PS2. I have no idea whether the cable I bought is "sync on luma" and I've lost track of where I bought it. It would be awesome if that was the problem, but I'm not sure how to tell. My question is this: if my RGB cable is NOT "sync on luma", would it cause this kind of "incorrect line update" problem?
