Hello, so I have one of these slim PS2's and I'm ready to drop a chip in it. But I remember reading somewhere about this particular model that a couple other fixes need to be done upon chipping. I believe it was the romeo mod and something else. Does anybody have this info?
I've looked around and noticed people going against this for this V12 model. The confusion continues lol.
The laser burnout is a PS2 V12 design problem, not related to a specific modchip. That could be the reason for some people against this fix
The 70000 series is technically the best version of the PS2 (if you put aside the laser burnout issues) as it's the only Slim model that still retains full PS1 backwards compatibility without resorting to partial emulation like the later Slim models. It also still has all the HDD circuitry so it can be modded to fully support a hard drive, unlike the later Slims.
So I've been looking around and haven't found much but 2 different fixes that aren't available anymore. summ0ne's fix and subzero fix, 2 pcb's I saw that are not sold anymore .I don't know if I'm looking in the wrong places but I can't seem to find any tutorials on how to perform these fixes. This V12 is a unique mess lol.
