I was wondering, are their any good gams in the 'Simple 2000' series? I used to be somewhat interested in this one game in it where you'r character had a pumpkin for a head (can't remember the name anymore), and acording to insertcredit 'Earth Defense Force 2' is something worth checking out. I don't import much (I own less then 10 imports), and I don't like taking chances on games im not sure will be good when it comes to that. So any recommendations on what to get/avoid?
I remeber some of those simple 2000 releases included games like Strikers 1945 and Tokyo Bus Driver. Our guys in Japan may help you better.
Some of the simple 2000 are utter quality, and some complete rubbish. But hey it is only a relatively small amount of money. My recommendations, The shooting - double shienryu. You get a stunning conversion of the original shienryu, plus the unreleased shienryu for the DC. The latter is a disapointment and far too easy, but it is fun none the less. The bushido/sniping one is worth a look. For some reason a lot of my friends love playing the bushido game in 2 player, it is again simple - but quite fun because of that. I would say the "love" series is best avoided. The most playable is love tennis, which plays quite well a la mario tennis. However most of the rest are just awful wobbling shameful games. Just don't get any of the board games, love simulators, mahjong, tc. Those are pretty poor. Try the ones that look simple and action orientated, for the price you can't really go wrong. Oh thought of a few more, Oane-chapara, bloody, wobbly and surprisingly entertaining... Daibijin - one to show your mates for the comedy value - less to play! BTW the one with the pumpkin guy is 64 - the splatter action
And that's a quite nice one! Played the european version, maybe it's a tad too easy, but it plays & looks good...
Hearsay has it that The Earth Defense Force 2 is supposed to be quite good, considering it's a Simple 2000 title. The Oneechanbara 2, while not as high on quality, provides a solidly viceral thrill of decapitating hordes of undead while playing as a scantily-clad lass. And one of the newer releases, The Zombie Vs. Ambulance (whuch should be bought on merits of the title alone, methinks) is a new take on the tired 'city of the undead' formula in which you race against time and over zombies to rescue the few citizens not infected by the ghastly plague. EDIT: Now with 300% more linky.
