PS2 Slim faulty power supply.

My PS2 Slim's power supply (in the console, not the actual brick) will only work if it has something under the plug, angling the plug upwards. I opened it up and found that the little socket which the plug goes into isn't connecting to the circuit board correctly. What should I do to remedy this? I tried putting a bit of paper on one end, permanently angling it upwards, but when I put the console pack to together the casing forcefully pushed the socket back downwards, completely counteracting the paper.

 

Pictures would help to see exactly what you mean. Are you referring to the DC jack on the console, or do you have a PS2 Slim model which has the integrated power supply?

I wouldn't put paper near a power supply though - that's just asking for potential fire hazard.

If the socket is loose it may just need to be resoldered.

 

Yeah, that's it. Couldn't think of the right term.

 

It's quite common for DC jacks to get damaged somehow... well, I haven't heard of many issues per se with PS2s, but it's very common for them to get damaged in laptops.

Again, it probably just needs to be resoldered or possibly even replaced. Replacements can be found online if needed. Should be an easy fix.

And don't use paper to hold it in place. That's a bad idea.
