Ps2 slim ide/sata kit, dms4 lite se and neo xii laser fix

Just finished doing this mod on a v12 ps2. I dont have any working sata harddrives so tested it with a ide harddrive. I ordered a 2.5 inch sata enclosure that wil work with this and a 320 gb sata harddrive.

The dms4 lite se doesnt usually work with toxic os like the pro version but I found a test version of toxic os that boots in dev 1 mode with it. Woot.

One issue I noticed is when I hook up the 5v for sata hd power and try to use a external power with a ide harddrive. The harddrive says it needs to be formatted or hdloader freezes. When I disconnect the 5v wire from the adapter the ide harddrive is detected and works fine in hdloader, toxic os and opl. So I made it so the 5v can be disconnected when no sata drive or enclosure is being used. As the ide hd uses a external power source anyways.

 

I did that earlier without special kit. Thought it was bad flux issue but:
-It works only up to DMA3, while using DMA4 hangs the OPL every time.
-Had no succes with creating partitons or formating HDD on Slim. Have to use fat these needs.
-Have to put HDD at Master mode only. 1 slave or 2 HDD's at the same time (both Master and Slave) not supported.

I formatted it with winhip. i had to use a patched hdloader for v12(GOW edition)8C, opl works and toxic OS(test version) works. Yes some games require different patch's to get to work in hdloader, opl and toxic.. Ill recheck the 5v wire when my sata hd and enclosure arrive. I am sure its working right. The ide has to use a seperate power source but the sata hd will have it built into the kit. Like you said you can't have both at the same time.

Thinking of buying a ghost case for it too.

Got the ghost case. One of the hinges broke on it so ghostcase is sending me another case. Got the replacement case today and my sata enclosure. I had to wire the 5v plug direct because the sata enclosure wouldn't boot or power the harddrive correctly. Overall, i am pretty happy with it.
