So my PS2 slim ribbon cable has been scratching all my games. I don't know what to do, any suggestions.
is it too long? isnt it glued at the bottom or something normally? so that it doesnt come over the height of the laser?
Tape the ribbon on the side of the motherboard for about 1 cm, and check again if it makes any scratches. And if the laser can still fully move
The ribbon cable geta connected on the motherboard and the laser, Tape it down on the motherboard side, just a tape over the ribbon cable
This tends to happen when the machine has been left turned off with the laser not in the "home" position. Only thing you can do is replace the ribbon cable. They're about 99p-£2 on ebay and very simple to change.
thanks but how do I do it isn't it glued or whatever to the motherboard and are you sure i can replace it or could it be another problem.
I dont know what it else van be xd But I didnt know it can be caused by leaving the laser not in the home posistion, cant it recover it from it then? And yeah those ribbons are cheap
Do you have a habit of either switching off the console without its power button or ejecting the disc while it is still spinning? I read that both are known to cause circular rings.
The replacement ribbons come with a sticky side to attach back to the chassis. It really is a simple job but if you're really not confident, and live in the UK then post it to me and I'll do it for free.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't like in the UK, I live in America. I might get a cheap PS2 from a flea market or something but I am not in a hurry to get another one.
Have to replace the ribbon and make sure to turn the PS2 off properly in the future. It's a really quick job. I have a spare slim that has a bad mobo.
Yea, I got this PS2 at launch and i wasn't really collecting at the time so I didn't care for it at the time. Do you have a video of how to do it. I just want it fixed, if I can't I will probably get another one for cheap.
