Now, I don't have a swapdisk nor do I have the money for one. I've heard of a way to softmod a PS2 slim using a cdr, a flash drive and the FMCB (Free McBoot) Software.

If I can remember, the in depth instructions are that you burn a certain part of the disk (say you have metal gear solid 3, like I do.) So that you swap the official disk for the burned one and select whatever will load FMCB off the flash drive.

If I'm right, can someone walk me through it in greater detail then the watered down tutorial I gave myself? I really need something new to do with my PS2.

To swap a disc on the pstwo you have to disable the door sensors, which I believe will involve opening it up.

Yeah, I forgot to mention, I've already blocked the sensors.

Do you just want a premade Free McBoot memory card? I, or I'm sure many other members of Assembler could just make you a card and save you the trouble...

Say, that's a good Idea. How much would I have to pay for a FMCB card?

I am willing to do it but don't have any extra cards so if you are willing to provide one I will install FMCB free of charge ^__^
I have a bunch of USPS Priority mail boxes so shipping should be cheap!
(tho it would come in a box way too big for it :3)

Hmm I guess I could just order something smaller to send it since they are free after all :/

That sounds excellent. I've been dying to have a PS2 with FMCB on it. And I do have a spare card.

So if you can get the boxes for free.

Surely they'll charge you more when you actually post something?

Sorry to be off topic, but it seems odd. I'm jealous as in the UK you have to pay quite a lot for packing & ebay seem to ignore that.

Nope its pretty cheap actually but I would not be the person to ask about US postal stuff as I don't tend to send many things

I will be ordering some padded envelopes tho cause the boxes I have are heavier than the card and TBH its a bit silly to send such a small item in a large box

I'd probably be extremely lazy and send my card in a standard envelope. XD

I'd advise against doing this. I visited a friend in Arizona (which has nothing to do with this story, just coincidental) and brought my GameCube, but left my memory cards there when I came back. They decided to send them back to me in a regular envelope. Well, the envelope arrived all mangled and missing one memory card. Its definitely worth it to get a padded envelope at least.

Yeah, It's probably safer to send it in a padded envelope. Late reply to this thread....
