Wonder if anyone can explain the problem I'm having...
been running my original ps2 from release in 2000 without problems (don't play DVDs on it - I guess that's why it's lived so long) and using a RGB connection.
Recently I picked up a aqua version and though about putting it in the stack for a while but after setting it up to output RGB immediately I noticed the picture wasn't as sharp and my original console - even in the menu screen it was obivous, I though it was the lead so I tried my original console and it was fine, then I tried a silver console I had and that gave the same poor RGB picture.
im back to my original black one now, I'd like to have the aqua one set up but I can't put up with the picture.
any ideas what caused this ?
    cheers from a newbie

Older consoles have RGB signal being generated inside of the GS chip.

Newer consoles use an external D/A converter inside of a multi output device. Because the circuitry is greatly simplified on newer consoles the RGB quality may be reduced due to cost savings on the design.
