I was just wondering if any of your guys ever tested stuff on the TEST PS2 like the webcam/microphone/guitar hero guitar/dance mats and what not on a TEST PS2 DTL-30001, as I don't own a retail PS2 and the gf wants to play these games that need most of those things, I was hoping not to be needing to buy a retail PS2 for this and keep her happy on the TEST. I know I am cursing but I'm just curious, i'll probably eventually buy a cheap retail ps2 for this crap but for now (and because I think she will loose interest after a few weeks of playing anyway) i'll stick to the TEST for playing around.
Hahaha well I'll have a go if they work on the TEST ill buy them and test it on the tool as well.. but the TOOL makes a bit too much noise for daily playing so it will purely be out of interest
Buzz buzzers work no problem, as do taiko drums thingy. I really do think every accessory will work no probs.
Just checking to be sure before spending more money, as I know there were issue's with network adaptors and harddisks with some model dtl's. after I will add some info on the compatibility with the TOOL to make this worthless thread a little bit more interesting.
I kind of meant game accessory, it seems the usb and controller ports would be the same as the retail.
ok so we have an ack that the usb ports are working like the retail ones, then all should work fine thanks for checking
I'll second that - I haven't thrown everything I have controller-wise at a debug yet, but everything I've tried so far, both via USB & controller ports has worked fine. Given the TESTs were intended for game debugging, it only makes sense that they'd behave like a retail in most respects. The HDD compatibility issues seemed to have been more of an afterthought, since the HDD wasn't really heavily supported across the vast array of games released for the PS2. As for the TOOL - I'm pretty sure that I successfully used an eye-toy with mine, but I'll recheck that later to make sure. BTW, port187 - there is one reason why I'd still recommend getting & using a retail unit over your debug - the life of the laser (especially so, if the debug is still sealed). My GF loves all the bemani stuff (DDR, ParaPara etc), so I'm in the process of setting her up with one of my retail units, connected to an HDD + HDloader - that way, I don't have loads of discs lying around, she can play both US & import games, plus the laser only gets used once per game,
They also work with all three types of Go By Train controller (PS1), the Go By Train Type 2 and Shinkansen controllers (PS2 USB), every dance mat I've thrown at it, Singstar and Karaoke Revolution microphones, GT Force and GT Force Pro controllers and several of the fishing rod controllers so I am sure you can throw anything retail onto a Debug PS2 and it'll work.
30001 confirmed to work with those lame karaoke microphone games chicks love to play and drive me sick while I pretend I'm having fun... well the fun usually comes after. Dunno about the eyetoy though.
A little bit off topic but my TOOL DTL-T10000(not H) will only use my PS2 dualshock2 controllers and not an original dualshock or the white controller that came with the PS ONE. you probably already knew this but interesting nevertheless.
There are actuallty a couple of games on the retail PS2's that don't accept those old controllers as well (the one I came across was Fifa Street)
