Ps2 Tool broken in shipment..junked.

    They approved the claim. I will be fixing it if possible (crossed fingers).
    If not it will become an awesome PC case.

    Maybe Altern8 can post the damage pic again.

    I will pop it open today.

    It's gonna be a cheap deal for someone!

    So long as there is no damage to the PCI card itself, then simply moving it up one slot will result in a working unit. If memory serves me well it makes no difference which slot that card is used in. However, that is a bit of a ding and hopefully no further impact damage was caused to surrounding parts as they'll be hellish to replace. Best of luck!

    Well assuming it is only the plastic slot that is damaged is removing it and replacing with a donor slot not a feasible option? Other than the time needed to do it that is.

    can you just buy or take a pci solt from a old pc motherboard?

    I can desolder it easy, problem is it's pretty much the last part to come out of a ps2 tool, so it's a fuckload of work. I'll try simply moving it first.

    I also need to find a replacement psu for one I have lying around.
    A normal pc psu is missing the -5v ( I think)connector the tool needs

    A bog standard PC PSU works, plus why bother farting around with the broken slot when the next one up will do. Seriously, you don't want to take an entire Tool apart if you don't have to!

    Yeah please do. Not doubting you, but I just ripped an old PSU from a defunct PC many moons ago and stuck the bog standard into the PS2 Tool Linux backbone, being careful to ensure that the connections and voltage rates were the same.

    I think I've replaced 2 or 3 PSU in the last few years into these units and thus far I've just used standard (but old) PC parts. Grab yourself an OLD PC!

    I no longer have a Tool here to check anything. Wished I did :(

    would it be a fuse in side the psu or a voltage reg gone or something

    So I moved the card over one slot and I get no video from the host card.
