I've seen pics of those before but I haven't heard much about them. Can anyone here that has one enlighten me on the subject and give a few details on how it works and such? Thanks.

i guess you can give the main differences between it and the retail PS2 units.
i suppose it uses a HD right? how much do these usually sell for?

i'd like to see different pics of the back and sides if you have some too. thanks.

other than that, i'm not sure what to ask. if you have info i might find interesting, don't hesitate to post :p

  4. In basic terms the machine has two main parts, one 'side' of the machine is a very old P.C and the other 'side' is a very old PS2.

...Join the two together and you get a TOOL to dev with ;)

so does this basically mean that it's a standalone machine that doesn't need to be connected to a regular dev PC?

inside Tool PC side is doing send system call to PS2 dev board

ah, it was hard to see from the first pics since you couldn't see the outside...it's basically an overgrown PS2 that has it's insides layed down like a PC. cool indeed.

and about how much $ do these usually go for?

yes, but this includes the licencing fees as well. i'm just wondering how much the hardware sells for on boards like these (where the sale is not controlled by sony).

for example, the licencing fee of the xbox dev kits is US$10,000 but the consoles themselves just sell for around $800-$1000.

$20,000 is hardware only, licen need pay......$$$$$$

xbox debug station sell to developer is $2,000+$2,500 licencing it .
well M$ did not sold to developer no XDK inside debug xbox....so $2,500 icencing must pay too

so the xbox licensing and hardware fee is not $10,000?
i have a document here that says that it's $10,000

i think i read somewhere that this includes the licence

yeah, same here. i'd like one of those TOOL machines too. i'm saving up for an XDK DVT4 so i guess i'll have to wait a little longer for this one.
