Hey! I've had a PS2 TOOL sitting in the corner for months now looming over me and I thought it was about time I used it. I wanted to get as far as I could without having to resort to bothering people for help, but alas... I can't seem to get it to boot a game. I've burned a patched game iso (Master) to DVD and when the TOOL tries to load it I keep getting an exception error. I also tried patching a PS2 game that came on CD to a Master copy and tried running that but I get the same exception. Unit seems to be loading the game and getting ready to go but last minute I get the error. I've done all the previous steps in regards to cd usr local bin etc and reset 2 100. Games I tried were PAL TimeSplitters 1 patched CD iso to master and PAL Colin McRae 2005 patched DVD iso to master. Included a picture of the error I get, I believe when I tried again recently I get all the system information on actually starting the GPU and setting the region, as the game seems to be about to boot I get the error message at the bottom!
Try using 0x000f0002 0x100 as boot parameters instead, to disable the newer runtime checks. If you can, don't change the disc's type because there is a mechanism to prevent the type of disc from being changed. There were PlayStation 2 CD-ROM Master Discs. The TOOL will also boot genuine, pressed discs of any region too.
Thanks for the quick response! Just to confirm, how do I reset with those parameters? EDIT: Tried PAL TimeSplitters 2 standard disc with Reset 2 100 and worked perfectly!
Instead of entering reset 2 100, enter reset 0x000f0002 0x100. On a side note, I hope that you know that nobody was meant to log into the TOOL itself.
