    Awesome!!

You should not actually log into the tool itself, but use ProDG for Windows or the Linux binaries on a different machine to control the tool from the network. If you really want to log in directly, the default user/pass is root/Administ.

I'll follow up with you in PM for some pictures for the shipping claim - I knew the tool was fragile but a broken CPU and a cap coming clean off? With the picture of the shipping box it looks like they dragged it across roads of all of Europe!

    Congratulations!!

Yes we as a community have resurrected it from the dead it shall live to see another day. Why is it PC's have to be fun. But yet frustrating at the same time. I had a feeling it was either the CPU or hard drive because of what I've dealt with in the past. I am just grateful there wasn't anything wrong with the PS2 side. At least the experience you've gained now should come handy in the future should you come across something like this again. I know it did for me.

Thank you FlamingSpaz for sharing the knowledge he needs in order to test and compile some code. He can also do what I had discussed in one earlier posts that is serial trust me it's useful. But so is ProDG I just prefer to use both. They both have their pro's and cons.

Note; For anyone who's serious don't forget to download the PlayStation 2 Technical Reference CD September 2001 DTL-S4023; https://assemblergames.com/threads/...ence-cd-september-2001-dtl-s4023.31237/page-2 it has all the documentation you'll ever need to get started today even information on how to troubleshoot the tool kit. Just look in folder newsgroup it has all PDF's/resourceful knowledge. So if you have a question chances are it might've already been answered in one of those documents.

I just hope M52B25 will actually utilize it for what it was intended for rather than to play a game on it and then never use it again. Though I'm sure after all this he'll want to use it to debug or test his own software because he appreciates it more now.
I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. Just remember if you ever need help or anyone please don't hesitate to contact me, FlamingSpaz, SP193, or Unclejun we'll gladly help you out. Also if you ever confident enough to start a small project hit me up.

Yeah that is unfortunate to what happened to that BVM I've read this occurs a lot when shipping heavy CRT monitors it sucks.

    :p:p

I'm watching assemblergames.com video on YT:

and trying to run something, but Tool said "disk is not detected".
There is a problem with secondary disk?
I have also DTL-H20400 connected, but DC plug doesn't fit properly in a socket and disk won't start.

    EDIT:
Shuji, you was faster than me with answer ;) Thank you and all guys in this thread for help one more time.
I don't want to play on this Tool retail games, I have PS2 fat for this ;)
I really want to know how it works and how dev teamt used it for making games.

iirc the external HDD won't spin up until a program needs to access it, but someone more knowledgeable can confirm that.

As for "disk not detected", can you paste the command you're running and the full output?

    I'm running ./dsedb -r in /usr/local/sce/bin
    and then reset 2 100
After that I have "Disk is not detected"

    I'm following assemblergames.com video:

and trying to start game like he. I guess this game should be on HDD. Am I right?
Tool is not Japanese, and I don't have alpha or beta games for PS2, yet :)

You do not need a beta game, you can burn any (patched) retail game on a CDR, when you patch it as a master disc it works just fine.

Google masterdisc patcher ps2, first hit 3.0

There are no games on any of the HDDs, this tool does not have the CD/DVD emulator. Make sure the switch on the front of the tool is not in Emulator mode, then you should be able to boot a game from Disc.

Regular retail games worked for me, but master patched games are guaranteed to work.

Also to add, you should be able to boot ELFs from a different computer, though I have only done this with the Linux binaries. I assume ProDG is able to do this too.

Congratulations on getting it repaired! I believe that Assembler also had one TOOL unit that had its CPU pop out of its socket. Although he seemed to have gotten his to work by just re-seating it.

Not all TOOLs have the DVD emulator board installed, so the EMU mode does nothing on TOOLs that do not have the T14K installed. Those that do, will boot games that are installed on the emulator's HDD unit, which is within the TOOL itself. In DVD mode, all TOOLs can boot master discs and are region-free.
The external 40GB unit was used for developing titles that supports the HDD unit. It will not be activated, unless something accesses the HDD unit. You must also connect the external power supply to it.
