Please help me fix this PS2. The story goes like this: it was fully functional, then I accidentally shorted the point responsible for DVD-RW read in modchips to ground. Now all I get is black screen with fan spinning. PS2 can stay in this state for awhile or it can shut off itself after a couple of seconds after powering on. Anyway, I checked the fuses and all of them are fine except PS14 (it reads at thouthands of ohms). Another thing I notticed is that point 1 on my picture is connected to the ground (40ohms) and I don't think it's right.

So, what do you think I should do next? I can't remove that smd fuse, but I can add another one to the same points or I can just bridge them. But what about that ground issue? Or maybe this PS2 is completely dead and I shouldn't waste time on it?

Edit. Duh, I'm dumb. Of course point 1 would be 40 Ohms because of 3x120ohm resistors in parallel before it. The real question is should those resistors be connected to ground?

    Please don't take offense...

I would start with your mod... take your time and trace all your connections, making sure you've soldered your leads where they are supposed to go and make sure that you have not inadvertently bridged any soldering connections. A hand-held magnifying glass comes in real handy.

If your mod connections are good, I would uninstall the chip and see if you can get your console to start.... maybe you have a bad chip?

By the way.. what mod chip are you using? Did you buy it new or used?

PS14 cuts power for about half of the 3.3v circuitry on the PS2. Including, I believe some of the IOP subsystem. Without that power it won't get any thing done I suppose.

If there's no short to GND on either sides you could try bridging it.
