Hello, currently I am asking help on my PS2 v12 board. I installed Modbo 5.0 on it and have been having some issues. The Matrix software seems to boot up when I turn on the PS2, and the PS1 and PS2 discs seem to be recognized when I go into the browser menu, but when I select them the PS2 will either disconnect from the TV or go to a black screen. I've resoldered the SX and B, I, G, H ports several times with different results each time. Sometimes when I run the disc, the PS2 will turn off completely. Im wondering if it's the PS2 slim board I am using or something else. Any feedback is appreciated, or if any of you are in the AZ Phoenix area, message me if you think we can meet up and figure out this issue, or if anyone wants to skype that works too, thanks. I'll also link a picture. http://imgur.com/0JCRn7u
What cables are you using? Composite Video, S-Video, RGB SCART, YPbPr Component, custom RGBHV VGA cable (via mods), or the official RGsB (Sync-on-Green) VGA cable from the Linux kit? Are you still getting audio when the screen goes black?
I'm on the phone right now, but it looks like you have a v13 PS2. The bahaviour you're describing means that mechacon is crashing when the modchip is trying to circumvent PS2 protection. You are lucky that you have a v13 unit, v12 would've fried the laser at first crash. What you should do now is check that you soldered wires to correct points. If everything is fine try another modchip like modbo 4, original matrix infinity or dms4. Or better yet forget about modchips and use FreeMCBoot.
I have read about the FreeMcboot and honestly have no idea how people get it to work. I've put everything on my USB and still cant get anything to load.
There's a few ways to get FMCB: -obtain mem card from someone with it preinstalled -install it onto hard drive via PC -install to mem card via disc-swapping (swapping disc to a disc with an exploit to install the files from USB). -modchipped system As for the chip, there isn't much else I can recommend other than resoldering all your points until it works. I remember having to resolder a few points the first PS2 modchip I installed... it's very tedious and it may look correct but not work.
