Is this a disc left inside the unit from the developer or another owner?

Sorry, I was a bit vague.. there were two discs in seperate DTL-H10000 PS2's. I can only presume they are from the developer as the retail version is in DVD format and not CD. I have only played it a little, and don't have the retail to compare differences..

First discs is a Verbatim Datalife with "37 Wreckless '3D' for NTSC PS2 TESTSTATION TESTED" on it
second disc is a Philips cd-r with "Wreckless 3D for NTSC PS2 TEST TESTED" on it
There was another disc, a DVD that had 3D movie samples on it also.. weird.

Update from old post.. Sorry it took so long.. http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?42933-Wreckless-3D!

Got it up and running on my PS2. Never played it before, so I'm unsure how complete it is

Sadly the PS2 and Gamecube versions are completely different (worse) to the Xbox version. So I couldn't even tell you if it was different :\

Thanks for sharing it though, I'll take a poke through it.

Here's a comparison between three versions.

Gamecube is in widescreen through swiss-hack so it have different fov than Playstation 2 version (that dont own a widescreen hack, at least the last time i checked the devina40 archive).

All versions are fun, i just dont like the stupid missiles from PS2/GC but they look good, obviously they cant archive the quality of XBOX, specially in things like auto-shading, it was pretty damn impressive back in the days.

    Thanks cde :)

Missiles are stupid, there's also a slow-mo powerup too. There's a nice cheat option, but the ports are not done by Bunkasha, so it was mutilated.
What I want to see is an XBOX beta of the game, doubt it'd ever show up though :(

So are ps2 and gamecube ports from the xbox version? Also I have had no experience with these missiles, I assume I need to get further in the game

No they are no where near the ports of the XBOX version whatsoever. The file structure is completely different too, models are dumbed down and so on. Not running on the same engine that's for sure.

The PS2 and Gamecube ports were announced after the original Xbox release, probably there is nothing different or cut compared to the xbox retail version.

I recall that there was a video on youtube, appearently it was some sorta of tech demo for this game, it was a yellow sedan running like crazy in a city at the night, I think it came from one of the ex-employees.

A lot was cut, completely different game in terms of gameplay. Sure cars are the same but not the same models etc.

I never played the GC and PS2 versions, far as I know the lighting was worse and probably the textures, didn't know that the models were too.

But I was talking about to feature something that wasn't seen on the retail Xbox version.

EDIT: Just discovered that BT soundtrack for Die Hard Trilogy 2 is on the game, no wonder that the only time i've played I did recall one of the car levels from the game.

    Different features I noticed were,

    Music

    Overall City layout

    Cheats menu

    Voices

    Items/Weapons

    Physics

    Visuals (menus, flares etc)

Probably more others but that's just off the top of my head
