I hope someone can help me because this has me tearing my hair out. I'm trying to transfer PS2 game saves from the net onto my memory card using Xploder V5 cheat CD. and a USB flash stick. I can transfer the save games without problem onto the memory card, and you can see them using the PS2's in built memory manager too, but the problem is that the game doesn't recognise the save file! I've tried it with Resident Evil 4 and Valkyrie Profile 2 saves. The files are with the ".md" extension from the official site, although I have also tried converting to various other formats using "PS2 save builder" (.p2m, .xps) and even removing the file extension completely. This is not my own memory card, but an image from the official site to show you how it is supposed to look: http://img224.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=25176_9_t_122_516lo.jpg The difference when I do it is that in the 'Game Saves Source box' the game save I get from the net ends with an extension (e.g .xps, .md, .P2M) and in the 'Description' it is listed as an unkown file by Xploder V5. As you can see compatible game save files don't seem to show any file extension and there is nothing you can do with the file apart from zip it once it's on the memory card. How can I get this to work? I suspect that the V5 uses another format, but which? I have no way of getting the saves off my MC because Xploder standard version doesn't allow that. I hope I have explained my problem sufficiently. Greatful for any help you can give.
I use Codebreaker for this without problems. Are you sure you are using the correct region save? I mean a NTSC|U/C save won't work with the NTSC|J or PAL game, but the save will show up normally on the browser, since that doesn't have region restriction.
I've tried both. I've used game saves from the official Xploder site: http://xs.xploder.net/xploder/xploderui.asp?PID=90&SID=287756&gameid=18702&tab=gs and Xploder is European only I think. You click on those files and they dl as an ".md" file. That's what it does for you no? I've checked as well using PS2 Save Builder and the saves I've used have the PAL product code 'BESLES.' Resident Evil 4 BESLES see: http://img149.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=64686_untitled1_122_902lo.jpg The instructions are that you put that file onto flash pen and then transfer to MC. Once on the MC it is supposed to be detected as a valid save and away you go. Have I missed something? There are no other valid options to select. Only zip game save that would make the file unusable anyway. The saves I've found that are BASLUS I converted to PAL as above, but still the same thing happens. Official saves or region ported saves the PS2 won't recognise it as being a valid save game. The thing that sticks out is that my own games saves don't have file extensions, although removing file extensions from saves I've downloaded doesn't make it work either.
I think you are doing everything right, from what i read. Is your memory card, an official one? I heard that RE4 don't like third party ones, and those with 16, 32 or 64mb. If it's an official memory card, my suggestion is contact customer support from the Xploder guys.
Yes, my memory card is an official Sony 8MB. I contacted official Xploder support almost a week ago and no answer. I woudn't hold my breath considering that they have poor support for codes compared with some other sites. That's why I've gone around 8 message boards asking this question and noone seems to know the answer:-(
