Hi everyone who reads this i have a 40gb PlayStation 3 and there was no blue ray drive inside it i have fitted a drive but needs to be re paired to the motherboard. any help as i am on 3.55 firmware and i cant get into factory service mode any info that will help me would be great thanks.
You need a downgrade dongle! Then this: 1. Have the console on a working 3.55 firmware 2. Download the Remarry files (remarry-3.55.rar) google is your friend! and unpack to root of USM Mass Storage device. The following line is already changed from 1 to 0: #--------------------------------------------- # Install Systemsoftware # 0 = Žs‚‚‚ # 1 = Žs‚‚ #---------------------------------------------- 0 This will make sure the drive init PUP is not installed, thus preventing RLOD because of syscon hashes on downgraded consoles. 3. Download official firmware <=3.30 as drive init PUP and put it root of USB Mass Storage device Content of USB Mass Storage device should be thus be: MD5: / SHA1: / CRC32: / CRC16: Lv2diag.self C48E5EBFC00ABD89094CB73A2B0BEA59 / D229AC694910272DDEA9276B9FD4A2664800638C / C2D0A2B0 / 5327 manufacturing_updater_for_reset.self 9E3C9024E9243478D21C78E1C9DF2376 / 922EA202CA2EA36EBF2B5054605E17409B9A56E6 / 93F18A95 / EA0D fdm_spu_module.self 33E8D3C12349CFD203930FD0C237054D / F660FD6EBEB12DC7F52B4E707A1F0D1BD05DF9F3 / 85701A9B / B75B PS3UPDAT.PUP cfg/standalone.cfg 4. Put the service mode JIG/dongle/PSGrade into port 0 (closest to the reader) and get into factory service mode. 5. Put the created USB Mass Storage device from step 3 into port 0 (closest to the reader) and run. Drive Init Executing means it is starting the remarry process Drive Init Failed with big pink letters 'NG' (No Good!) means the process failed. Most likely solved by fixing the communication issue with the drive. 6. After you run the initial remarry process, do not take it out of factory service mode. 7. Put a BD movie disc in and run it on the PS3. (This restores your DRL files!) 8. Then you can take it out of factory service mode. 9. Launch as normal. It useless, never separate the motherboard with Blu ray motherboard. Note the hack software won't do a thing.
What happens when you have no option?? I've bought 2 PS3's in the past that have had fried (the controller chip) BluRay Drive boards. The first one cost me nothing as I did a favor for the guy that fixed it, but the second one would have cost me over $200 to fix.

YOU CAN PAIR different drives. you NEED to be on 3.30 *this is what those service files were originally meant for* the console also needs to be in service mode. if its retail and youre on 3.56 plus you will need a way to downgrade with a flasher. at that rate you are better off buying a new machine.
here is what i would personally do... get your root key and convert the machine to a dex and bring the syscon down to the lowest possible firmware you can. convert back to cex using your original eeid and objectivesuite to reflash it. then flash the retail counter part to this lower firmware *your syscon will be dehashed and brought down to a low number* upgrade normally to 3.30. throw into service mode. and use the remarrying tools. enjoy.
Okay, I guess that was before the hack invented to able to remarry the Main Motherboard to Blu ray motherboard. I will do more research on that since I own a 60GB PS3 without Blu ray player ! Thanks.
No point downgrading, there is a (hacked) remarry set re-signed with 3.55 keys. :boxing: And with the tools out on the wild you can even do it yourself with "scetool" ... :stupid: Why risk bricking with a downgrade anyway ?
What happens if you buy a faulty ps3 with out a bd drive and no blue ray board? As for everyone i will not downgrade i am waiting on the ps3 usb dongle once that's here i can fix it. Thanks for the reply's.
Well if you have it updated past 3.56, you have to downgrade ... lol To prevent one from signing stuff the old signing keys were whitelisted. So old keys only work if they are on a whitelist of eboot/self hashes, And there's no reason SONY would put leaked tools on said list. So the tools are anything but useful if you're at 3.56 or up. Hence why you need to downgrade in that particular case. You can also ask nicely for SONY to send you the updated tools which should work on 3.56+ FWs. (haha)
