hi members , i got another slim PS3 today and one of the controllers is funky i'm going to ask for a partial refund for it. What the problem is the analogues don't return to the middle and sometimes get stuck , is that fixable ?..............curious

Should be, sure. Open the sucker up and give it a good cleaning first, if that doesn't help just replace the sticks.

I'd go with some compressed air, and/or some of that IPA and an old toothbrush.

Iirc the very first model ("SixAxis") did not have rumble...? Bit weird for a slim to come with one of those though. If it says "DualShock" it should definitely have them.

interesting , the PS3 came with 2 controllers. The one i'm talking about is a SixAxis as per what is labelled on it. The other controller has rumble motors as i've tested it through my PC.

love to know more about this situation.............this seller may get a beating from me through ebay/Paypal

Six Axis controllers use analog mechanism with mechanical potentiometers. If it's worn out, you will have poor response on the stick. Usually the left stick dies first for obvious reasons. Fix is replace the sticks as mentioned above. You can nab a stick from a dead PS2 controller. Newer Dualshock3 controllers have magnetic sticks so they should not have the wear out problem nearly as bad as the original Six Axis pad.

Six axis controllers came with the original PS3 consoles from 2006. Because SONY got sued by a patent troll about rumble on the controllers they removed the rumble motors from the controllers. In 2009 rumble came back. They renamed the controller from "Six Axis" to "Dualshock 3" when they returned the rumble motors to the design.

excellent info olive , i have given the analogues a huge burst of compressed air and Isopropyl unfortunately the problem still remains. I think as a last ditch effort im going to use a syringe and needle to inject White Lithium Grease. If anyone thinks that's a bad idea let me know , other than that i will get some replacements as per the link given.

hi olive and rso , just wanted to mention i got some replacements yesterday and fitted them today. It wasn't easy desoldering the existing ones i had to use my more wattage Iron , braid and desolder pump. But yeah it took a while but was worth it , they slipped in PCB nicely and work well.

thanks for your help , stoked with the results

I have the same issue with a speedlink controller with the Left analogue stick.
Are replacement analogue sticks from ebay compatible with 3rd party controllers? [IMG]
The controller's name is strike fx

Opened the controller. The look of the stick is similar to the original one,the inner workings though seem to be different (and on the cheap side of quality). I decided though not to fix the controller, as it is a cheap 3rd party controller.
This controller was away to me by a friend that was about to throw it away
