I've made some custom joysticks in the past and now I'd like to make one for the PS3. I know there is a plastic membrane for the button contacts now which makes using the old school method of soldering directly to the contacts impossible. Does anyone have any clearly labeled pinouts for the black connector that the membrane plugs into? I found a picture that the guy later posted was labeled incorrectly so it's of no use.
Which controller are you trying to mod, exactly? If it's a Dual Shock 3, it's probably worth your while to extract the whole decoder chip and just wire buttons and stick switches straight into it, and retain the original wireless components too. There's really no reason you can't suss out the pinout by tracing the inputs, especially if you're leaving out the analog sticks.
Buy a POS pad like the logitec aero and gut it. There's no real "pinout" as it's not simply on/off short to ground buttons.
Yeah, almost all the buttons are analogue, except select, start, PS, direction pad buttons and possibly L1 & R1
A 3rd party controller was my backup plan. I'll look into that Logitech Aero. Whenever I get the thing built I'll get pics up asap.
