Due to the OtherOS feature being removed due to Gehot, he has decided to fix the problem by releasing his own custom firmware. I'm somewhat leery about this, as I want to make sure it won't be a problem with future official PS3 updates, but if it proves not to be, I plan on upgrading using this. Opinions? http://www.ps3-hacks.com/2010/04/07/otheros-reintroduced-in-ps3-custom-firmware-3-21oo/
This has already been discussed in: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26713 Supposedly he's actually going to release something tomorrow.
Is there an actual plan of release (i.e. a rough date) yet? It's been announced for a while now, but that's about it.
I have held back the update so far and I m waiting to see how things go. It better be out before 3D Dot Game Heroes.
Is it true that the 3.21 is causing lots of problems, like DRE, freezes, ... ? I just got my PS3 and it came with 3.01. I was thinking on updating it to 3.15, but i want to know if it's a ok firmware? 3.21 seems like a bugged firmware.
I would stick to 3.01 till you have to absolutly update, to stick to the firmware you are currently on, as far as i currently know its safe to update to 3.20, but there is really nothing new, they have just removed stuff
You, Sir, think you are soooo clever, don't you? Please, not ANOTHER fanboy war, with 3000+ posts I though one would have aquired the ability to stay on topic and sensible.... seems I thought wrong....
If it's a BD-R, no, not on a retail. If it's a test disc (pressed on a silver), then yes, it'll work just fine on a retail. That said, if it *is* a test disc then it should be identical in content to the final shipped product. So it would seem that you have little to worry about. -hl718
