Hey everyone, I just got my DECR-1000A in the mail from a recent eBay listing of I think 5 total (posted on another thread).

It's my first time with one, so I was trying to figure everything out. I reset the network and system, and was able to start up the XMB without a hard drive. After a bit of idling, the target decided to turn off. I tried starting it up again, but no fan or anything.

I did the diagnostic test, and fan/memory failed almost immediately. Doesn't even seem like it's trying to boot anymore.

Anyone have an idea of what this could be? I'm thinking maybe a power supply issue? It's possible I could have heard some sort of pop when it turned off, but I'm not 100% sure. I do hear a bit of a "crackle" when it tries to start the target. I'm not sure it is the power supply, since the CP and lights, etc, work.

I haven't opened it up to inspect it yet, I'll check it out tomorrow. Looks like it'd be a bit of a chore. I might just try and return this and just pick one up another time, but I'd rather not go through all that.

Have you tried accessing it with Target Manager? The information log from that may help.
Also make sure to unplug it or flip the rear switch between attempting fixes. The CP crashed on mine when I used multman to backup the hard drive. My advice is to pop the lid and look for anything out of place. Shipping tends to put a lot of strain on components, sometimes reseating components is all that’s needed

Yeah, Target Manager works fine. I'll see about opening it up and reseating stuff.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I was able to boot it up a few times before it stopped wanting to boot the target.
