Watch Impress has gotten their PS3 in Japan and have already dissected it. This was reported by engadget.com/ today: Another user was able to upgrade the Hard Drive to his PS3 with a standard 2.5" HDD (instructions are found in the included PS3 manual): The user-replaceable HDD will be cost-effective and helpful when it comes to storing whole music and picture albums, dL-ed movies (like Microsoft's dL service), and dL-ed PSX games (Sony's dL service). Yikes! :love2: Source: http://gaming.engadget.com/2006/11/11/playstation-3-dissected-drive-upgraded/ -Concura
no, upgrading the HDD does not void the warranty. The flap is located on the side of the unit: Here's some videos engadget found of somemore "culprits" disassembling a PS3 :banghead: http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/12/ps3-disassembled-on-video/ warranties voided already.... shame shame  -Concura
I suppose, since a spider bite me last night, and I'm starting to see red circles and all kind of weird shit. It must be the superp0w3rs!
Yeah, but we're still waiting on that new PSP with internal hard drive you've been going on about for 6 months, eh?
why does it have to be pirated isos? I used HDloader to put my purchased games on the HDD I have in my ps2. It's a legit thing to do, as I find it much better than using the shit dvd drive and waiting for loading stuff. But I can see this ending soon, as some games coming out already won't go on a HDD without patching the iso and shrinking it and all that.
HD Loader is great. It's basicly a DVD emulator (something like Daemon Tools). It's perfect for games like GTA series, Mercenaries and Yakuza, that are constantly loading stuff (and killing the shitty quality PS2 laser). In Japan a lot of games supported the official HDD with the exact same purpose. SCEA did this only with some games (check the wiki PS2 HDD topic i wrote). So i thank HD Loader creators.
I know all that, is just that, for example in the Xbox a lot of people used the HDD for piracy since it was built in and easy to upgrade. And a PS2 with HDD rocks, but both the old big PS2 (in good conditions) and the NA are pretty difficult to find, at least for me...
I pray that the ps3 doesnt get pirated. If it does, everyone will get a Ps3 , just as they got a Ps2 and Ps1, and sony will be the accidental winner again ><
I know what you mean, but back then the Dreamcast was even easier to pirate, and the Xbox not only didnt need a modchip but since it had an HDD you didnt need a DVDR to burn the games. So unless the PS3 is very easy to crack (which the X360 already is) I doubt piracy will help sales.
