Just sharing my ps3 in a pc case mod powered by a 530 watts thermatake atx power supply.
I had recently added a post to get help on the voltage pinout for the 3 pin cable found on my ps3 power supply but to no avail. So i just crack opened the PS3 PSU and found the Voltages in the board itself :)

This is is still an ongoing project as i am still adding my xbox 360 as well.

    Here are some photos:

    Original PS3 Power Supply:

To Identify the Voltages, i opened the psu and it looks like this:

Here are the Voltages for the 3 Pin Connector:

Removed Original Fan Enclosure and the 2 pin 12v mother board connector to psu was cut and soldered the wires directly to it:

Heres the ATX power Supply i used to replace the original PS3 PSU:

    Now here's what happens next:

What's the point without modifying cooling system. Original system had flow tests and such to be efficient in its original case. 530W PSU is also unnecessary unless it has 80 Plus Gold Efficiency level.

Does any one knows how to power the ps3 fan using the ATX powr supply?
I it only spins less than a second then it stops when connected with the 12V psu.

    Is this accurate?
    Brown wire: 12V
    Black wire: Ground
    Gray wire: Fan speed?

I dont understand why it doesnt work.

Just finished my similar project. I used some old aluminum heatsinks from k8 amd's. I cut down the side of one and then mocked them up. Used a marker to draw threw holes and used a drill press to drill holes in the sinks. Just. Used threaded rod cut to length for anchor's. They will not sit straight. They will be off angle in order for each sink to catch the mount holes

Didn't think that something like that would even exist.

Ps3 (Even the 60GB) should only pull max 160watts (13 amps)

30A would make it 360watts on the 12v rail!
