So this is the 2nd time this happened, last time was about 2 weeks ago, and before that, it had never happened. I turned on my ps3 today and it didnt sign in as normal. Instead, it just continuously said "signing in", i could leave it like this for hours and it would never change, it wouldnt even say "timed out" or "error" or anything. Only way to fix it is to unplug/turn off everything, modem, routers, anything that connects to the routers. then I have to leave the modem and router unplugged for like 3 hours, and plug them in, then turn on the ps3, then reconnect my computer. this time though, the ps3 was still loading my friends list when I reconnected my computer and I noticed the ps3 stopped loading. a few minutes later i was disconnected from psn. When I reconnected the computer I got the message below. What is this and how do i fix it so it doesnt happen again?
You have 2 devices which seem to have the same ip adress in your local ip network. 10.0.1.0 is a local area subnet you can use, did you assign your ps3 or computer a fixed ip adress? Best way, if you have one of them getting its ip automaticly from the router (DHCP) go to your router config and put the DHCP assigned area somehwere higher (IPs 10.0.1.50-60 or something). So Ips you fixed assigned are not assigned a second time by DHCP. Hope this helps.
this is really very annoying. its been happening again. I know nothing about networking, but i did try to assign an ip to the ps3. it didnt work. what do i need to do to get my ps3 to go online? it works perfectly if I connect the ps3 directly to the modem.
Yeah i figured it out. Turned out to be the 2nd airport base station, just unplugged it and all seems good so far. But now there's weaker signal in the house... Oh well, I'll reset the whole thing eventually.
