Howsit? I have a PS3 slim 120gB HDD with the Play TV hanging off it. A friend has a spare 500gB HDD laying around. If I upgrade the HDD in my PS3 is it a simple matter of re-installing the Play TV via the original disc, doing a channel scan and then doing an update from the "settings" tab in the Play TV menu? I ask as apparently they (Sony) are charging for a premium upgrade, which doesn't work in Australia anyway. Cheers
Even if you put in another HDD it will force you to format it, so you'll have to reinstall your shit anyway
Anything you purchased from PSN can be downloaded again if you still have your original account. The only thing you can't download again are movie contents, which have limits on how many times you can download without having to buy again. Still why you don't delete all crap on the HDD (but keep the play TV stuff and maybe your saves) then backup the HDD using the backup utility ? Restore the backup on the new HDD. Easy Peasy.
Thank you for the replies, I understand the back-up (sync trophies and whatnot) and then re-download the games that I have purchased. My main concern is with the Play TV file, I am led to believe that you have to pay for the premium (which is useless as tits on a bull here in Australia) or if the standard Play TV file is still available (later than what is on the supplied disc that you get with the play TV).
You should call Sony about it I guess about backing up the Play TV stuff. Surely if your PS3 HDD dies, you should still be able to use the Play TV premium or not.
