I have recently purchased some prototypes and am running into trouble testing them on my PS3. It has been a few years since I used the PS3. It is currently running Rogero CFW 4.55. I am copying the files of the original discs on my PC and transferring them over FTP. When I try to start them I get error code 80010017. From what I can gather this means that I need to patch them...? I have limited time to dive into fixing this right now so I was hoping that this was one of those problems where there is a quick fix. BTW all protos have burn date 2011 so they shouldn't require the latest firmware. Any help on this would be great, thanks!
You need to decrypt them with ps3gen tools. A google search should do. I have a guide for this specifically which you can look at here: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/guide-backing-up-ps3-beta-discs-via-pc.59173/
Something like this is exactly what I was looking for - at first glance anyway. Thank you PixelButts for the prompt answer as well as writing the tutorial in the first place. It's been well over a decade since I was active (consolevision/dcemu way back then) and I had totally forgot how awesome and helpful you likeminded people are. Thank for reminding me
No problem. I'm just glad that tool was brought to my attention. Without it I wouldn't have made that guide.
you can also use webman mod with ps3netsrv nvrbst version that does on the fly decryption, you just need to run getkey pkg to get disk key. http://forum.redump.org/topic/12699/ps3-dumping-instructions/ also you can use ps3dec-r5 and 3k3y isotools
