Hi all,I have a PS3 which was all full of dust but I had cleaned it and replace the thermal paste. But now when ever I load a game it will freeze but not shut off, if I eject the disc, after a bit it will exit and go back to the XMB. If I force shutdown the system, upon booting back up it will not read the disc (If it is left in the system), it just has the spinning icon where the disc appears also the PS Vita Utility above it does the same unit I re-insert the disc..It does not seem like a BGA issue as there is no artifact's appearing on the display, if I leave it on the XMB it will be fine..Any help is much appreciated! Thanks

If it was tampered with, it has the wrong drive in it. (Drive electronics board is married to motherboard through a cryptographic key)

Thanks for your help, I've worked it out. Turns out the laser assembly was just buggered lol the system was pretty dusty when it came into the shop..

The photo does not show just how dusty it really was, I'm still getting dust out of my clothes  IMG_20130515_155855.jpg

lol yea my PS3 gets heavy use, mostly use it for DVD/Bluray and recording TV shows. Have had to replace the laser once (DVD laser died but Bluray was fine) and every 6 months or so I pull it apart to give it a clean (maintenance).

They are dust magnets, I think, perhaps due to the vents being small. I can tell when mine needs a clean, the fan gets a bit noisy lol! Lucky they are easy to strip down.

Sadly the only way of preventing it from getting that dirty is not using it. The dust get in while it's running, not when it's stored. :p
