I have a drive (CECHE01) that wouldn't accept discs. After realigning/greasing the gears I set it up so that there would be a disc in it upon booting. However, when it starts the blue light blinks 3 times then goes solid then it won't make any effort to eject of read the disc (no motor sound although I was hearing sounds previously). I'm stumped.
Could it be the drive is set to think it is ejected? The PS3 drive has two states I think and all depends where the white plastic rails are. First state is "ready to accept disk" second state is "disk in drive - ready to read" Could it be the drive thinks it is ejected but the disk is in place? This video explains it better: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ykTVmbh-rPI Probably barking up the wrong tree but it allowed me to repair a couple of mates machines
I didn't think anyone would answer at this point lol. I realigned everything awhile back and it worked fine.
