As I'm sure you all know, Sony will be releasing a slightly redesigned PS4 in July. It's main changes are it's lighter and uses less power. But another change I noticed is that the glossy panel and chrome PS logo on the case is now gone. I like the original design better, so I'm thinking now's the time to pick up a PS4 before the new model completely replaces the original stock. As usual, there has been many other revisions of the PS4 in the past, but I can't find a resource that details what was changed between each revision. On the other hand, you can find databases online detailing all the changes in each revision of the PS3 (removal of hardware PS2 backwards comparability, smaller die size etc) So what changes have been made to the PS4 since launch? It seems like prior to the new July revision, it was just the usual slight redesign to make it cheaper to manufacture.
CUH-10XXA - Launch Model CUH-11XXA - First Revision. Different Wi-Fi antenna, bigger heatsink, different fan, different power supply. Comparison pics and more info here: http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/10...odel-compared-differences-found-and-analyzed/ First info released, announcing the different Wi-Fi antenna: http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/05...c-first-difference-and-official-label-appear/ CUH-12XXA / CUH-12XXB- Second Revision So far the info is that the HDD Bay cover is now matte finish instead of glossy. The power eject button is now mechanical instead of electrostatic and the lenght of the LED light is shorter. The ports layout at the back of the system have changed. Probably a new PSU, still no pics of internals though. More info here: https://medium.com/@PadPoet/further-differences-between-cuh-1100-and-cuh-1200-387c3241bd31 The A and B letter at the end, just like with the PS3, means different HDD size: http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/06...y-fcc-include-1-terabyte-hdd-option-and-more/
I assume the cooling changes were to combat nearly-discovered overheating issues? Sheesh! Does Sony never learn? Sounds like the first revision is the model to go for!
Can't say it for sure. The PS4 i got was already the CUH-11XXA, can't compare with the first one. Anyway, some pics and video of the CUH-12XXA showed up and it seems the power consumption is a bit lower: http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/06...video-new-info-on-differences-with-old-model/ I guess this confirms a new PSU. Also the console packaging is different: http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/06...brand-new-packaging-heres-what-it-looks-like/
It seems the 1 TB SKU will still be on the CUH-11XX model, at least initially for US and Europe. Sony already announced that they'll manufacture the PS4 in Brazil, arriving at stores by October. No info on what SKU and revision will be available.
I hate the glossy plastic. It only looks good in display cases and only when it's new without any scratches and dust. I am very glad that both Sony and Microsoft are removing the glossy plastic for the new revisions of the Playstation 4 and Xbox one. The glossy plastic is not a big problem if you have a white console. Although 90% of people don't have a white console.
CUH-1100 did not have a bigger heatsing, just little different, maybe even smaller, cheaper to manufature. For internal market. CUH-1200 Probably has 8Gbit GDDR5 chips, smaller motherboard, smaller heatsink, new PSU. Uses 20W less.
Brazil has laws where systems have to be integrated there. The taxes are so much you'd need to be silly rich to have a ps4 in Brazil.
Not moving, just adding a new factory. Initially it will only supply the country, later probably exporting to other south american countries.
