    Hi all

Picked up a ps4 for cheap earlier from a local selling site. It was listed as faulty that it turns on then turns off straight away.

I managed to get it for £30 with a mint controller which I thought was a good deal. It's an original 1003a model that has clearly been dropped outside (front bottom on case is dented where it's hit the floor). I've taken it a part and can't see any obvious faults except the fan doesn't spin.

After pressing the power button (with case off) it beeps and lights up, pulsing blue light but the fan does not spin. After 5 or so seconds it powers off.
After taking it apart almost completely and cleaning it occasionally the fan will almost try and start (literally turns about a quarter of a turn but stops dead) then console powers off as it normally does.

Does this sound like just a faulty fan?

Sounds apu related. Have it reballed. Otherwise give up. I usually use these for parts.

    Oh really, that's a shame.

It's been dropped so hoped it was something simple, I ended up ordering a replacement fan for cheap so will try it anyway. Will update with results.
