Sick of seeing people posting the same garbage for views.. YES if you turn the date back to January 1, 1970, your phone won't boot BUT NOT PERMANENTLY! How to fix: Open the phone Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes Reassemble Done..... iPhone's don't have a separate battery for time keeping (unlike some other phones)..
Now see I appreciate the solution being this simple, but there's always the explanation (or theories) why these happen that get to me. Take for instance Tom Scott's explanation (and theory) why it even exists. He didn't give a solution as he's here sharing WHAT makes this problem relevant. Also I must wonder, do you think this was merely an oversight on Apple's programming team?
IOS has had another bug with the clock for years and never fixed, if you rest the clock (again by killing power), you will not be able to get service UNTIL you re-sync just the clock with iTunes.. The sim thing could also be a slight issue with the network as well.. A few years back Vodafone's entire pre-paid network crashed for 24 hours when the time switched from daylight savings to normal time (automatically). You couldn't sync with the network, so no signal (backup emergency services still worked as they go off any network available)
Yeah but the battery cannot be removed unless the whole phone is disassembled. Which is most iPhone users have no fucking clue how to do.
You can just leave the phone on all day and wait until its dead too. Not an instant quick fix, but better than opening up the phone imo.
All 64 bit iphones are easy to open, except for the 6S as it uses tape around the display assembly.. It's literally 2 screws and your fingernail, I prefer using a round edge scalpel and multi thickness pic. Also this is posted on a forum for modding and such things Depending on what stage of boot it gets stuck at, it may only draw 150ma, also one retardo feature in newer iPhones is the screen can go to sleep in certain stages of boot.
The point being is the general user will be scared to do such a thing to their device and also void their warranty.
Actually, it does. Just because they can't tell doesn't mean you aren't going against the warranty conditions. Also, that ribbon cable breaks easy if they don't know what they are doing. For most people, letting the battery run out is the best way.
I would agree with this. Especially since Apple prides itself on how user-friendly and simplified their devices are. Their typical user wouldn't want to disassemble their iPhone in any capacity.
only on one handset .................. anyway this is beyond the point. it's posted here not on buzzfeed or some crap....
