PSN games that are no longer available can you still get them elsewhere?

Why would everyone ever want to play SNES Barbie Vacation in the future? No one would, but the point is preservation. And GT5 is kinda cool to play :p

Hey, SNES Barbie Vacation is an inspiration to the video game world. If anything, it's still ahead of it's time in some respects.

Digital downloads have a nice advantage about them, but the simplicity and the more rewarding nature of physical media makes it so much more worthwhile to me. On top of that, digital downloads are usually locked to one specific account which makes it a bitch to just play anything on the console from one username. I honestly like the Wii's much more basic approach to digital downloads in comparison to the locked nature of PSN and especially Xbox Live.

In some instances with XBLA content, you have to be logged into Xbox Live or the game(s) will otherwise be stuck in trial mode. A lot of people might get screwed once Microsoft eventually shuts down the 360's Live services. It's a few years down the road still, but it could happen.

Wow that would be super generous and it sounds like you spent far too much on the PSN! Seriously don't worry about it I will get hold of it somehow by hook or by crook.

Microsoft turned off the XBOX 1 Live servers in a blink when 360 was launched, so... but at least Sony tries to maintain older services a little longer. But still, we're screwed.

What? XBOX 1 Live servers were up till April of 2010. XBOX 360 launched 2005.

I though I read something about not being able to get on Live on 2005/2006. Sorry, my bad :(

The AOL Neverwinter Nights is one that comes to my mind:

Just remembered that there was an Japan-Exclusive Pokémon for Gameboy that had a building that served as a "Network Center" and you could download stuff (minigames and others) from it. The network shut down long ago and there are people hunting down copies that have any of the downloadable content on the battery. That's just sad.

I know Wipeout HD can be bought on disc as PAL/ASIA versions, as well as Pixel Junk 3-in-1 Pack (ASIA), and Battle Fantasia (JPN).

I personally detest digital download only games with DRM. It is a big reason why I have fallen out of touch with modern gaming, and have been sticking with the classics as of late. Its kind of refreshing actually. I no longer have to keep up with the rat race of new releases.

I have nothing against downloadable software (in fact I bought and keep on buying lots of apps and games from sites like GOG, DotEmu, BitsDuJour ,etc); however I'm seriously against: DRM, companies removing stuff you already purchased, overpriced DLC (most of it is nowadays).
I still prefer physical copies as long as price and physical space are not an issue...
