I sold my PS3 about one week before the whole massive PSN debacle, and at the same time sold my PSP Go. Time Passes... Yesterday I picked up a PSP 3000 looked forward to re-downloading the PSP Games and PC Engine games I had purchased previously on PSN (I was really happy because the folks at Hard Off left a 8GB Sony Memory Stick in it). But after I updated the firmware and went to sign in, it told me I had to reset my password and sent me to this address: https://store.playstation.com/login.gvm And all that page tells me is : "Site Maintenance Notice. The server is currently down for maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try again later." Now obviously PSN is not down. I downloaded Sony's windows version piece of crap and when I tried to sign in there it sends me to the same address, telling me I have to reset my password. Any help here? I really don't want to have to call Sony because Sony customer service is the reason I sold my PS3 to begin with.
Well, did you change the password of your account right after PSN went back online? (this could be done on a computer if i'm not mistaken). Also, there was a firmware update (on the PS3 at least) that demanded a password reset as soon as you logged in for the first time after PSN was back online. I suggest you to contact customer service.
Don't have a PS3... just a PSP. And this is the first time I've tried to log onto PSN since the outage...
seriosly? you didnt know? i mean it was allover the gaming news when psn went back online that all users were obligated to change their passwords are you guys living under a rock. XD Just kiding.
Oh, I knew... I just didn't own a device that accessed the PSN and all my computers are Macs so I can't put Sony's wonky software on my computer to do it that way. So I figured I'd do it if/when I got another PS3 or PSP. And when that happened, I seem to be cock blocked by Sony.
This is a known issue, where PSP-only PSN customers can't get signed in because all the new security is tied to a PS3 connection. Johnny's right, this probably requires a phone call. Barring that, you could borrow someone's PS3 (or plug in a broken one with no working Blu-Ray drive) and log on that way.
The easiest solution is to find someone you can trust who own a PS3, give them your former log-in details, get them to sign into the PlayStation Network and then tell them what new password you want to replace it with and bingo! you should be ok and reclaiming your old games in no time Far, far easier than piss-arseing round with customer services who are more likely to tell you that because you sold your devices you are now no longer eligible to lay claim to any software you may have previously purchased as they are tied to the former units only. Obviously, we all know that to be wrong but it is food for thought.
It doesn't have to be a Japanese gamer though, anyone from almost any country in the world can access any of the various PSN stores. Is there no-one from any other country you can ask, family or friends in the USA, Europe, anywhere?
