Yeah, I had to leave my computer, with broadband connection, on for 13 hours. That's a long time for a download. Half Life 2 didn't even take that long. Anyways, have you downloaded the beta?

Yeah, I played it last night.....thats wierd though, 13 hours?? man, on my dsl it took me about an hour or 2...I played it last night, its pretty fun but they limit you to episode 1 and theres a TON of morons. It's probably the same as the ones on xbox and gamecube...i dont think they added that much...then again its a beta. the graphics are pretty!

Which is why I got on the Japanese beta when it came out about a year ago. They're up to Episode IV. I played a bit last night... first time in a months. As I suspected, US and JPN ships are seperated. So... you guys have fun. :)

Is the beta only 1-1 to 1-3? Because if it is that's really annoying.

Gajin, do you have any shops near you that have any Episode IV copies? I want to play for the summer, as school is almost over, and I lost the only one they had on eBay for $34.75.

Considering I live in Hawaii... none. There's a pay download though. Shall I dig you up a link?

I'm not sure if I read the website right, but is it going to cost money to pay when it's fully released? Is this just gonna be to buy the game, or are there going to be stupid-ass subscription fees?

I think there will always be subscription fees for Phantasy Star Online games.

Episode I & II was a free download in Japan, with higher subscription fees. Episode IV is a pay product (cheap though). I'll dig around in a bit Phantasy Star. Going for a jog now before I run out of time. :/

Yeah, I remember those good ol' days. Before that, paying with Sega Net was the only way to play, which cost $21.95.

Gotta love the Japanese online games. I think The DC version was about 600 yen a month. I know the GC version was.

Did the Japanese ever have Sega Net, or was that just an American thing?

No Sega Net. In fact, I recall playing Justice Gakuen online for free. I never tried any of the other games. PSO was the one I played the most. YOu just payed for your 1 or 3 month pass online, and played. Done. Pretty easy to do too!

Here's the PSOBB Episode IV page:
    http://psobb.jp/first/product.html

The links to the Episode IV downloads are were it says "Bitway/Compuserve".

How good's your Japanese? This is a multi-step process it seems. I would check pso world for a walkthru.

Do you like PSO? If so, you will like this. Very nice running in high resolution. Missions now, to go along with quests, and practically hack-free. Sonic Team banned the few geeks (almost all white AFAIK) that wanted to give each other boners by hacking items.

Then again, the JP servers are seperate from the US, so there's a certainly level of maturity I luckily didn't have to deal with.

My japanese? Konichiwa, arigato, hai! That's about it :(. I will be taking Japanese language courses in college. Luckily, I clicked on Dreamnet, and then the first link in the middle of the page, and got a setup.exe. Hopefully, this is for the Episode IV :)

    If your'e downloading w/o paying, it's not. :(
You do realize the game itself isn't bilingual. You'll have to read the menus in Japanese.
