Are those monitors made for the PSOne NTSC and PAL compatable? If they are I was thinking of buying one to run PAL stuff on in Japan. Yakumo
Don't get one yakumo, I have all of them and the quality is shit. Backlight is awful, the sound is too. 1st party is nice but expensive by comparison. You can get a free swap disc utility that offers x/y fix off of psxcopyworld.com that is just fine.
i have the ntsc set (psone + 1st party lcd) and at least the 1st party lcd is not pal compatible, but the picture is really nice. i use import player light for pal discs, the picture is a bit off position then.
The PlayStation isn't designed for LCD's. It has too many resolutions, so it'll never look good on a screen with a fixed resolution. Timing is generally wrong on import games too ( even running in the right mode ). DDR etc always need patches, I assume if you have the correct console then it works ( I could try it out but I've not got round to it ).
So the PSOne monitor should accept a RGB image no matter if it's PAL or NTSC? I won't be using a PlayStation on it anyway but low resolution stuff such as 16bit or lower. Yakumo
There are several different "PSone LCDs". The Sony and Zenith branded screens are the only good ones. The quality is awesome. They'll take RGB (you'll have to do some soldering) as well as composite. You can get a NTSC Sony-branded screen in the US for $30 off ebay. They're not region swappable.
