PSone "One Chip" Install... Black and White Screen???

Hello all

Now first off, this isn't the usual black and white issue with PS1's (and NTSC games) I have just installed a OneChip into my SCPH-102..



First of all it wouldn't display anything at all on screen nor would it make any sounds. Although i could tell from the disk noises that it was loading etc. After searching here I found that IC102 can cause this problem and a simple fix is to reheat the pins. I did this and...



We have a picture and sound! the issue now however is that the screen is constantly black and white?! NOT just in NTSC games but constantly. I did test a Japanese import of Ridge Racer and can confirm the mod chip is working.






I'm assuming i need to reheat a specific leg on IC102 again?? I'm a bit lost at this point. Any help appreciated.

 

Further testing seems to show that if i remove the mod chip (I have it installed into a socket) the color returns! Is it the chip!?

 

Solved it, for some reason the chip is making my console think it is a NTSC console even during the initial boot... I did this mod to the board..



It is now working perfectly. Happy days

 

Yuo live in Europe right?
If yes use a scart cable, it's miles better than that fix
