PSone (SCPH-101) - Hangs on the white sony screen

Hey everybody,

I just got a few PSone's (SCPH-101's) in the mail today, one was marked as not working. I thought it was just an DRE issue and but it turned out to be a different issue. When i turn it on it goes through its boot up animation but doesn't go into bios and there is no activity with the CD assembly, just hangs there on the Sony Computer Entertainment screen with the diamond. I tried replacing the laser assembly to see if it was the cause of this but no dice.The warranty seal was in tact so i don't think a modchip installation has been attempted and the board looks spotless.

*Update/Fixed* Turned out it was fuse PS601, replaced it and all was good .

 

Without that fuse a big portion of the CD drive circuitry will not receive any power. Probably that causes the CD drive to not respond to BIOS instructions, causing the hang up/stall.
