Hi, I've been looking around for a way to play PSOX offline... (I already own the DC, PC, and GC versions, looking to play specifically PSOX) and so far it seems like I have a couple options:

    -Softmod the xbox
    -Hardmod the xbox
-Transfer a gamertag to a memory card
-Activate a new gamertag via Xbox Live (As far as I know, it's impossible with official XBL and not emulated by XBConnect / XLink)

    I found a topic:
    https://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?49737-Phantasy-star-Online-Xbox-Gamertag/page2

And so far it seems to be the ONLY tutorial on the 'net on how to 'install a gamertag' onto the xbox memory card.

softmodding the xbox seems a little difficult for me at the moment... (No SP, MA, 007 atm.. These are the only ways right? I cant do it straight from a flashdrive?)

Would it be possible to actually upload an xbox memory image PRE-patched with a gamertag and just "Drive" >> Restore Image of the pre-patched one?

I pm you, but for reversense for others ill post in that thread an update on the tools I used. But gonna test it out to make sure it works tonight or this week.
basicly I used hexedit from hexedit.com.
Place the contects of my xbox account on the memorycard using the editor at an offset of 0x50
not the right usb, but selected the right place:

Resulting in (an example usb that did work, and you COULD write it all by hand to make a fatx formated like drive:

You can see I named the memorycard "AssemblerGames.com CodeAsm" in the xbox.

This all asumes you are capable to connect a xbox memory card in your PC or random usb stick to your xbox (and format it, test it before this hack)

    kind of off topic...
I never had Xbox live i the OG days. but i am holding my breath for a way to save progress in the Xbox Live Arcade games! does anybody know if it is possible?

maybe, like with phantasy star, we can load an old Xbox live profile on the Xbox and still have the ability to save progress? i haven't had time to try this, can any of you with a profile check it out?

i want to play hamsterball with a few friends but it is ridiculous to have to unlock every level every time we play! someone "save" me!

If you have a PC with IDE ports on the motherboard you can softmod it via hotswap... that's another popular method to softmodding without the need for those games. There's other methods, too.

Getting yourself data for a original XBOX XBL profile will be a challenge of it's own.
