PSP 2000 screen. New or in good working order.

I have a small problem. I have had my white PSP for some years and started noticing lines on the screen and heard that these were caused by the connecteor and not the screen and that a little bit of pressure might solve the issue. So I thought about doing that and also changing the case from white to black. Unfortunately the process of chaging into the new shell has been a complete nightmare and even with the added pressure the screen still has line so it will probably need replacement.
My question is; how much will a person who is trustworthy and experience in PSP assembly charge me to reassemble my PSP correctly and ship it back to me? I cant send the PSP right away because I have to order a new backplate and screen. Please let me know.
    Thank you.

Probably cheaper to buy a new PSP. PSP 3000 is $100 USD. Which is better hardware than the gimped PSP E1000 that sells for €100 in the EU. If you go used, you can find a good condition machine for half that. What you'll pay for a screen + backplate + shipping 2 ways will probably cost more and that's assuming you find someone who will do assembly for free.

Well now my problem is that I have it all assembled but when i close it the power refuses to come on.
I have a hackable PSP 2000. I dont think I would want to change it for anything in the world.

Every PSP is hackable. All you need is a memory stick and five minutes to download the right file.

As for the power, make sure you're not inadvertently shorting a connection. Does it power up when it's not all compressed in the case?

yeah, i opened it up and the power works again. No sound because the speakers need pressure to work but the screen works when is opened.

Well yeah, I prefer not having to hack it every time I turn off the power. Either way, I am willing to pay for the service as long as I can get it back in working condition.

Can you point me in the direction of modding my 2xxx series Darth Vader?

the fault lies with the power switch, its is known to get loosen up over a period of time. Go get the parts via ebay~

In that case, you're 90% of the way there. Double check your wiring and make sure nothing's getting pulled. Also make sure no pads are touching a piece of metal that they shouldn't. It's really just a matter of fitting it properly. Give yourself some time and you'll have it.

Hacking it probably isn't the right word. Dual booting is more appropriate. Going from stock to mod on a 6.60 PSP involves no more than running a file and waiting a few seconds. It'll stay that way until you do a full shutdown (standby doesn't count). It couldn't be more user friendly.

That said, from the description of where you're at, I think you've just about gotten it fixed up yourself. So long as it powers up when you have the case open, you haven't broken anything. Fiddle with it a bit more and you'll have it. If that still fails, double check the connections and the switch itself. You'll want to ensure the fault doesn't lie with the switch.

Start a thread in the Sony forum and we can do it there.

    Modding your PSP.

Also: I would stay away from the PSP-3000 if I were you. It solves the response time of the LCD with the 2k and 1k. But it creates it's own problems. Uneven backlighting in non-wide color space mode, and scanline-like sawtooth edges that ruin picture quality.

I've had 3 PSPs, 2 1ks and a 3k. I sold my first 1k when it broke and my 2nd 1k broke because of various issues like crappy replacement parts and other junk So now all I have is my Peace Walker Big Boss LE 3000.

If you are gonna get a new PSP. I would say get a GO and hack it, use your other old PSP/s to rip your UMDs, and play the ISO's on the GO.

But if you are fine with the 2k as it is. Just get another one of those.

I'll probably start a thread describing what think my problem is. I have a headache right now so its not the best time to fiddle around with it.
I am still serious about my offer.

If you have an issue with the screen. Likely all you need is a replacement 2k LCD and you or someone else to install it.

Normally if it was a 1k i'd be all in to replace everything for you. But I have never done any disassembly of the 2k. So I don't want to risk screwing you over by accident.

You can probably create a thread in the WTB forum about this or just change the title so it sounds like more you are looking for someone to do the repair for you.

A word of general warning to others though, be extremely careful when buying/replacing new shells/faceplates that are not the same as what you originally had. Sometimes they can be a tight fit.

Alright. Today I disassembled everything and figured out the the problem was the piece of aluminum that grounds the bottom part of the PSP. I guess it was touching and shorting to ground (scary). I went aead and carefully reassembled everything and now I finally got my psp in its black shell in working order. I still need a new PSP 2000 Screen so I will go ahead and chance the title into that. Thanks everyone!
