PSP is hacked wide open on either device. So no issues with installing CFW on them.

Personally I still think the Go is more awesome since you can do tv out with a PS3 controller, 16GB storage and takes up so little space. Downside is as a portable it's not as comfortable as a 2k or 3k. Also I personally think the 2k is better then the 3k (hated the change in LCD screens).

    2k(T88-v3) + 3k + GO > PRO C1 fix3

    1k + 2k(non T88-v3) > ME 1.8 or PRO C1 fix3 for the 2k if you want PRO Online

I do not recommend PRO C2 as it has a big where PSN bought PS1 games do not start

    EDIT:
Nope as cIPL is not possible on the later 2k/3k/GO but TBH is the 10 seconds it takes to run the fast recovery really that bad?

Last I read, it was possible to install a permanent CFW on most 3K models by downgrading to 6.20, not sure about the Go. Honestly, it's nowhere near as much as a hassle as you might think. Takes 5 seconds each boot, and if you use sleep mode instead of completely turning off as most people usually do, you don't even have to worry about that.

i see, i may just stick to my guns and get a 200x model. but the sleep mode thing is not a bad idea actually

The 6.20 perma patch does work with the GO but many PSN features do not work at 6.20 so it is recommended to use a 6.60 LCFW/CFW

You can leave the PSP in sleep mode and never turn it off. So after you run the fast recovery, just put it to sleep when you're done with it.

I have been testing this for some time now it has all the features of PRO-C2 and a lot of bug fixes plus more
    http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=34403

anything that can go to 6.20 can use the perm patch but like stated above PSN downloads of games will not install
so you may want to get unlazy

6.60 works greet with my GO and my 3000

I was on 6.20 for long time but update because of the free game recent noticed it worked better so stayed their

It's quite some time ago that I tinkered with PSP stuff, but if I recall correctly somewhere down the road it became possible to sign 'everything' which makes it possible to run homebrew/pirate with using stock fw?

Yeah, around the 6.20 OFW maybe, anyway, they fixed it in 6.60 OFW.

They did? I'm still able to run my (signed) gpSP-J emulator in OFW 6.60 (On my PSP-2006 and PSP-3005), as well as the 6.60 LME-1.8 launcher on my PSP-3005 console. The 6.60 LME-1.8 launcher is certainly signed because that's the only way it would be launchable from a OFW.

I have to say that the signing tools were imperfect though, when they first appeared in 2011 (Some signed homebrew software wouldn't start successfully on OFWs). I've not been following them too closely, but it doesn't look like much progress has been made since then. If they're perfect now, then that's good for homebrew development on the PSP. :D

my psp go is at cfw 6.60. i nearly always leave it at stand-by mode so i do not remember the last time i ran the recovery. it is really no big deal.

If they didn't, then they fixed it in the sandboxed PSP emulator within the Vita. The emulated PSP is running on 6.60, but nobody can get it to run signed ANYTHING. So maybe they fixed it for the Vita and thats why I assumed it was the same on 6.60 OFW on PSP as well. But yeah, it didn't work on 100% of things that were signed with the Kirk keys. It's not really worth depending on.

I have never bothered with signed anything but iirc its just "disguised" as a demo from PSN and no its never improved and TBH its not good for anything since you can't run plugins on OFW even if you could somehow sign them

CFW has more features than the debug firmware ^__^

The problem is there is no way to transfer signed homebrew to the Vita so we don't know if it would run but iirc it would if we could somehow get CMA to install it(would still need proper license BTW)

and incase anyone is wondering the problem with CMA is the Vita will only transfer PSVIMG from PC and only the Vita can make PSVIMG files or pkg from PSN
the encryption has not been broken on either of these

anywho what needs doing is either decrypt pkg replace files re-encrypt then trick Vita into downloading it (the tricking part was possible around launch) or the same but with PSVIMG since from what has been gathered the PSP games are the same structure just encrypted in PSVIMG(I have no idea about Vita games)

I've got a friend living in Japan and have been thinking about getting a 2k (currently have a e1002 running stock fw) to do component video out and use one of the homebrew programs to force it to full-screen 480i so I can hook it up to my CRT. Anyone know if PSPs are cheap over there? I don't recall them being super cheap when I visited last year, but I was only looking in the mainstream places in the major cities and not where the better buys seem to be.

Make sure the 2k has one of the golden mobos before you buy so you can take advantage of cIPL
iirc its possible to check by just looking at the mobo from the UMD bay

a quick google led me to yahoo :3
