psp 3000 power on without a battery

i got one from a salvation army cheap 8nzd and wanted to know can it be power on without having a battery just using the charger as i want to test it works before buying a battery

 

PSP works perfectly fine without a battery.

 

thanks i did not want to bother looking for my charger if it would not work without a battery
