Well I finaly picked one of thies up (very currious to play around with it and the sdk at work).

This thing rocks. Sure its a megar 1.3 megapixel camera but thing is quite small, but has quite a few little things built into the psp firmware. Whats even greater is in the future sony can probably increase the things the camera can do via the bios (new effects, filters, etc).

Chotto shots is a little confusing to use but has alot of nice additonal effects but is somewhat limited on how much video you can record or picture resolutions (in the psp bios, you can do motion jpeg incoded video till your memory stick runs out, with audio).

one nice little extra thing is this camera does let you take native 480x272 pictures. So you can do 4:3 pictures or psp res pictures.

I'll post a little more info later (need to eat lunch).

Yeah, I work on the pipeline for a psp project now. :D The SDK has samples and source for the PSP Camera and GPS for use in games. I wan't to see if I can build a small mini game that uses the camera to test the sdk out.

At the moment the camera is only sold in japan. You can get it though import shops for around $42 -$50 USD + shipping. Buygame2.com ($42) will ship to UK along with ncsx.com ($50).

FYI, I got mine from buygame2.com, They are a very good import shop even tho their site is not as well setup like play-asia.

I know of your PSP Project as i believe you are PSMonkey? I would like to develop some things using the camera as they are just finding out the NID's for it on ps2dev i think. But still have to get the camera first :(

Yes I am. :) (I more ment that now I make comercial games and not just homebrew, so i got a psp kit on my desk at work)

I did not realise ps2dev guys were finding the NID for the cam already. I know mapthis supports the official gps device so they must have found them out.

I might search them out if not found so i can use it in my own stuff at home as well (i'll pass the nids along but not src).

Yeah I got one of thoes on my desk. Nice but I just hate that i have to use a special tool to get it to boot like a normal psp (vsh mode). Also great thing with dev kits is 64MB of ram.

I read a review of Lemmings on the PSP that appeared to use the camera for building bridges etc using your hands. The review, quite disturbingly, gave it a possitive point for "the chance to build a penis bridge". Hmm. I assume this is the same camera?

I'll see if I can fnid it, it was in a PSP magazine that someone brought into work. I was only scanning through it because I had nothing else to do. Unless they've been able to confuse me (easily done) by reviewing Lemmings on the PSP and then having a PS2 version with the EyeToy? Is there a PS2 Lemmings as well? TBH I thought they'd stopped releasing Lemmings games years ago!

I will check a few online and see if they mention it.

They did stop on lemmings long ago but recently brought it to the PSP as a full game and the ps3 as a download.

    ps3 version is quite nice.
