PSP DTP T1000/H1500/L1500 UMD Replacement

Good day to all,

Can I ask if the lens or drive assembly is replaceable with the retail PSP? My unit the lens seem to be dying soon. So I was wondering if such replacement is possible?

I am pretty sure that are a lot of PSP Dev owners here, wanting to know this same question.

It has enough similarities to the psp 100x drive that at least the laser should work. Just be careful the ribbon cables to the drive are easy to screw up.
Edit: I can confirm later today when I pull my kit out of storage.
Edit 2: yes it's the same drive

 

That's great, would you know if its a straight forward replacement for it? Was kinda looking for a guide on the lens replacement.

I tried swapping the UMD drive full unit from a DTP-T1000 with a faulty one, while the drives appear identical (although the control board looks slightly different but connectors are the same) and the new drive does fit and even power on, it won't read any discs on the unit; I don't know why, I fear I may have to keep the original UMD control board as the one from the psp-1000 might not be compatible.
