I got a launch NA PSP with the v1.5 firmware. I'm always playing with the emulators and old games. I decided to buy Virtua Tennis today for it, and it wants me to update to 1.52. Does that break emulation or homebrew?
But I believe there are loaders floating about to allow you to boot >1.5 games on 1.5 As well as the exploit to allow you to downgrade 2.0 to 1.5
get yourself a 1gig stick "60bucks at newegg", buy your games, rip em and play them on your 1.5 with umdloader and alot faster loading times
Do retail games played of the memory stick have sound now? The last I heard only a few games could be played of of the stick and most of them had messed up sound or none at all.
i dont know where you heard that, all the games ive played off the stick have full sound, however some teams rip the music out of the game or sound to get them to fit on a 512mb stick. As for gta, good luck on that, its fully encrpted and does not alllow you to bypass the update.
Sweet! I can finaly get legit games instead of having to pirate everything! (Im NOT updating. All they've done by forcing updates is make people that want 1.5 not buy legit games at all. Go Sony  ). :-(
You can see this thread: http://forums.qj.net/showthread.php?t=25723 For the pros - cons of 1.5 vs 2.0 firmware, plus what effects each has with homebrew. It also talks about the downgrader. A pretty good primer.
